The number of times that someone recommended a post of yours. (see the recommend link below my post, click it and you will see my total recs increases by one - try it!)

Hi Nicholas, and welcome to a fellow countryman! (or, countryperson...)

Below every post there are four blue underlined statements: Reply, Reply & Quote, Recommend, Alert Moderator.

This is the choice of actions that are open to you when you have read a post. If you like a post, you push the Rec button, and the poster will get a Rec. That is then added to the total that appears under his/her ID box. If you don't like a post, e.g. Alcra's, then you push Alert Moderator!

For example, when you have read this, press the Reply&Quote, then my box will come up again and you can tell all of us what your favourite subject for discussion is, and we'll take it from there!

Again, welcome!

CJ

Er, firstly I think it's a little misleading to say alert moderater if you simply don't like a post. It's a little more than that isn't it? Like if it's against the TOS.

And for reccing, only subscribers can do this.

Shameless appeals for recs.....should result in recs being deducted

I'll tell you... they mean NOTHING. There was a gang on here that tried to take over the forums and they would rec their leader to try to make him look good. But the TRUTH is that 10 rec's are not much better than 100.

So, just enjoy yourself and feel relieved that we have broken the pitiful group known as "the acid team". Yes, this is a really good site now and nobody misses them. 😀

thanks for taking that in the spirit in which it was intended 🙂

i think i've said this before, but next time i'm in brighton i'll be sure to pop in and sample some of your fine fare - japanee food is my favourite food bar none.

one final point - this does seem to confirm a suspicion i've had for a while, which is that being inflammatory or outspoken is a good way to get lots of recs...
