Questions on tournament play: Is this an ongoing thing? Will another
one start when this one has ended? How are members paired (I am
close to 1300 would I be paired up with someone with same rating or
what). You all seem to be having a lot of fun with this and some
problems also. But than that goes with the game. I am interested.
Judging by the score the fun is with ROW and the problems are with
USA. I am absolutely sure there will be another one as it has
developed a wonderful sense of community on the site. Great
leadership and planning by Gil and Dave and their cohorts. There has
not been one contentious word which is really amazing with how
competitive we all are. I look forward to the next one, and yes, you
will likely be paired with someone near your rating. Kirk, tournement

This is only the first tournament.
There has been a little discussion about the next one, but I don't
think anything has been worked out on it yet. Best advice is to just
keep checking back here in the forum regularly, so you won't miss out
on a chance to get signed up for it.
For the current tournament everyone had about a week to sign up for
it, but it was only announced here in the forum, so if you didn't check
the forum, you didn't hear about it in time. (It was announced on the
home page a little late, so lots of people missed a chance to sign up.)
Also, you might let Dave and/or Gil know if you are willing to be on the
current tournament's "reserve" list. As you may have noticed there
has been a few tournament games where one of the players
mysteriously dissappeared, and there has been the need for the
occasional replacement player. It's actually how I joined the
tournament recently (I'd like to pretend I'm the "ringer" being sent in,
but I think it's more like sending in the bench warmer. Had they been
smart they would have sent in the USA team waterboy. WHOOOO! He
actually knows how to play. LOL).
And there is definitely talk of another tournament starting up....
if there's spaces that need filling (for ROW), I'd like to be concidered.
I didn't sign up for the tournement at the start because I was so new
to the site, and didn't think I was good enough - I'm probably still not.
But, if there's a gap against someone (below 1500 preferably) I'd love
to fill in. Even if I lose, I can always blame it on the position I started
with ;o)
