The only problem with sending users to this 'arena' when Game Mods find they used engines is that they will say, 'no, I don't'. They will be insulted, and quit the site anyway. People who cheat are trying to make you think they are good at chess, and they will not stand for being put into a separate section for engine users.

and people getting caught using engines in human-section could simply get tagged with CA in their handle, and all would work out very smoothly I think. engine-users could continue playing, not lose subsciption, and there would probably be less disruption overall I think.
I can see a major problem with this. Computer users would increase in the 'human' arena, as once their is no penalty for being caught, they will figure it's worth the risk.

Yes you would get some computer users signing up for their own arena, but I'd bet my house even more would 'seep' into the human-section. Let's keep what we have got. It seems to be somewhat effective and we can now see action is being taken.

Both.

These are no mods.
There are no bans.
There is no feedback route.
Yahoo just provides the platform.

Engine users should go there and play till their rating goes through the roof.

I think RHP should encourage people to goto yahoo and let them express their engine fettish.

I don't know if you have been around lately but engines are already playing at this site...like it or not.

There is a penalty for being caught. You get a "C" in your handle. Isn't that enough?

If russ opened up an unrated tournament for engines at this site I would let my (as gatecrasher called them) "little monster" have a go.

No,the penalty consists in being kicked off the site.

That is enough.

I was not reffering to now at this site. Maybe in the future it will be different. I would like to see change.

I know you are hard core in your ideas about using engines to play chess in an human human arena which I fully support as well, but why not make it possible for others to do as they wish? It really would not affect your chess games because you would simply opt not to play an engine. What is being proposed by me is to have an arena for those who want to run an engine "just for fun". Maybe even a tournament.
I don't think that allowing engines to play chess will increas of decreas the amount of engines that play here now. I think that is unrealistic.

I don't think so and here lies your idiocy: you think people likes your posts when indeed they think you're one of the most idiotic posters here.

Recs mean nothing,deal with it.

The only advantage I see is that IF there was an engine section with the type of engine and other particulars registered and IF there were a certain number of games played there, it might be possible to use this database to help ID engine users on the "human" side. For example, if Shredder always plays a certain move in a position coming out of a standard opening then if a player got in the same situation and always made the same move, it would be additional evidence of engine use. I believe that some of the larger sites, like playchess.com, have and use this capability. However, I'm sure our Game Mods are so expert and competent that such an aid wouldn't be needed here.

This may not be possible what you are suggesting. The newer better engines can run on learning which shredder does. It will learn from all the games it plays and analyzes; if it finds a line it lost with it will swiftly abandon it. With learning off it will play book and evaluate like any other engine. The new machines will be more human than human and much harder to detect.
