I've just realised: '42 years of hurt' doesn't fit as a line in your little song.

You'll have to leave off singing 'Football's Coming Home', at least until it's an even 50.

Tragic.:'(

You'll be amazed how adaptable we are.

By the way, I presume your continued enjoyment of the defeat is purely because England were not good enough to be in the quarter finals unlike all the other teams, and therefore their exit is good for the game which would have been so damaged by an England victory that anybody who has the good of the game at heart can't help but be overjoyed at the result.

Hmmm. Perhaps if Portugal were clearly better than England...and of that I'm not too sure.

The Irish version has; "always lose their shirts" for that line.

Don't quite get it- but I'm sure that's funny in Dreamy Dream land, where England deservedly qualified for the semis last night.

Ah Wheely- you know deep down you deserve a ribbing. I told you why before. Excuse the rest of the world while we rub it in a bit- maybe less of the old 'best team since 1966/1970' nonsense, or 'do Germany stand a chance when we meet them in the final' before the competition starts.

Time to reintroduce an old word to the OED, which was stricken the last time Engalnd won something, some centuries ago... 'humility'. Can you say that with me, children? 'hu-mil-it-y'. Well done.

You just wait 'till your team is there. They'll say exactly the same in the emerald isle only you'll believe it 🙂

I didn't hear what the papers were going on about which I'm thankful for but I don't think anybody I know was as confident as you feel we all were.
