Not if they cant tie their shoe laces.

My friend reckons handwriting will be virtually dead in 50 years and only a few specialists will still write by hand.
    It's not that far-fetched.

Like anything else I guess they need balance between their games and other aspects of their life.

I'll bet when my son starts hanging around town he'll be seen as a weirdo for doing so ...
The kids will be what we as parents teach them. If your kid can't tie her/his shoes not their fault it is yours.

Handwriting is pretty rare now, where have you and your friend been?

Watch what you say about the kids as they could be the very ones looking after YOU in the future.

When a skill is no longer needed why teach it?
A few different reasons one of which is it may well be needed .
Books and cds aren't nèeded either. In fact neither is facebook or guitars.

I'm genuinely alarmed at your comment

You equate learning with accurate recall of stuff that your parents teach you. I enjoy the difference in the various types of knowledge my friends know. They all learnt it from independent thinking, perserverence and making mistakes. There is no requirement to agree with eachother.

My son is 13, the required age for this site. Do you really believe him or any of his friends would be offended by that remark?

As usual the mind police have emerged to try to negate my points by drawing attention to my aΔΊleged trangsgressing of society's laws.
Are you implying the mods cant do their jobs?

    This is just more discrimination

I can always report your statement if you wish and we will find out what the mods think of it. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

Not if they hear you using that term all the time and I am sure it isn't in letters you spell it out! πŸ˜›

    blah blah ...

what? do you really think that I and the mods aren't aware of the content of my posts?
Unfortunately when we taint our interactions with our personal preference , which is not founded in truth but rather assumptions, we often and easily miss the point.

The mods clearly have no personal agenda and adhere to the best level of fairness they can muster.
Thats why we have a dynamic site with often very diverse and opposing characters.

I know your comment was a bit tounge in cheek but in all honesty I welcome it, report me to the mods. There is no threat from anyone on this site or in real life that can hurt me.

And please , may I suggest in the future that you possibly engage in the content of my posts rather than my language. ok?
