Nice to have a peaceful forum again. In all the chaos, I did spot a nice idea (by someone who's name I can't speel without checking, so I won't try).
Anyone (good) fancy challenging me to a slow private unrated game and giving me lots of pointers and hepful advice on the way?
As you can see from my rating, despite having a brain the size of a planet, I don't seem to be any good at chess. Quite a come-down for someone with an ego the size of mine, I can tell you.
Thanks all, don't be offended if I delete your game, I can only cope with one tutor at a time.
to you tom or anyone interested in improving your game here is a
pointer!! i hope you know about pgn files! if you do then here it is.
search the web for the pittsburg university! it has one of the largest
collections of pgn files available.of interest is the 153 zipped pgn
files.these files are of openings . dutch,dunst,english,stonewall ect.im
not sure i must try rival and see if it will play or veiw em! otherwise
down load a pgn viewer.the purpose is to select an opening. each file
contains hundreds sometime thousands of games played each with
the same or similar opening! after veiwing a few hundred games the
openings soon make sense! especially with the whole game played
out.at the uni there are many other chess related programmes
available. it helps to obtain a copy of the index otherwise you will soon
become lost! the site is hard to access due to user demand.its a ftp
site so if you dont know how to work it more homework is needed." as
far as a good player showing you the moves!! well thats giving the
game away:-) hope this proves useful to all. all the best in the new
year!
