Viewing many posts today, and even some new posts I don't see any reason why I should need to post warnings at all. The forums are a mess, and it can't be blamed on people not understanding the rules of a forum on a chess site.
Anyway, just a quick stop in to the office to hand some game turns in... but just had to make a point about the forums at RHP.
Forums here at RHP are not all about chess, but there are a number of very stupid and baiting threads and I personally think Russ needs to step in. Some think I'm not a very good mod, and that is fine... but things are getting out of hand with post I feel should be no-brainers just not to post at all.
So, with that... have your fun folks while it lasts. The reason we enjoy these forums is because there are some things you can get away with... you are welcome to question the moderation to a point... but testing and testing and fighting will eventually shut the forums down for a cooling period if we can't all just get back to normal posting rather than trying to shock and fight each other.

But I won't.
These forums have always tolerated irreverence and mockery, provided it doesn't cross the line and descend into insult. Look at the debates forum, for god's sake - it's full of semi-naked racism. Look at how long STANG lasted before he was banned. Look at Marauder and Ivanhoe. It's part of the entertainment. If you don't like it, ignore it. But many people do.
Frankly, I would rather be banned than have this place turn into a po-faced, sterile, humourless World of Chess. And (whether they admit it or not), people like Suzianne, and Red Night, and SJ, feel the same way too. You should be their favourite mod.
I hope people who have made Phlab feel like a villain feel proud. His modding is entirely consistent with the other mods. The only difference is that he posts more, because he likes this place. He runs a clan, because he likes shooting the breeze with like-minded people.
If you all prefer humourless, faceless mods, that's your problem. Grow up. Enjoy RHP for the wonderful, messy, human place that it is. That's what makes unique, and by far the best place to play chess on the internet.
