You think you do but you don't.
Women do things that just don't make sense and when you do something completely logical they still cry, yell, and/or slap you. Women say they love a guy with confidence but call you a jerk whenever you actually feel confident. Women will cry their hearts out and seem so sad you'd think you ruined their life in front of you but turn it off and on out of the blue when it suits them. Women are evil.
Now you understand how men think... Kinda.

Probably you know this already: Everybody is an individuum. So don't feel guilty if your son has been in special care. That he is not a big hugger may or may not have to do something with this.
My sons (3, aged 16, 20, 22) are completely different without that big differnces in upbringing.
Be aware that for a younf man hugging becomes awkward when they enter puberty. It may come back or not later on.
