Absolutly you can chose to have the game unrated or the game can be drawn between two players with the same score.

Tournament and clan games are always rated, other games it's up to the creator of the game to choose rated or unrated. Create your own unrated games to place on the Open Invites boards.

I find that playing invariably makes my rating go down. Not playing is safest, and your rating is unaffected.
