Tolerated?

Coffeeshops are forbidden to buy the weed they are legalized to sell.

Works for me 🙄

That means it's illegal, but you're allowed to do it.
The two main reasons they keep it illegal are:

- European law (too much hassle)
- Whilst it's still illegal, they can raid whatever they want without too much hassle as well. Once it's legal they need more court orders and such.

I do think coffee shops (marijuana bars) have to pay taxes t ...[text shortened]... the same construction prostitutes had whilst they were illegal (they are legalised now though).
Interesting. Is "tolarize" a word you made up, or is that an attempt at a translation of a Ducth word that doesn't have a one-for-one English equivalent? (or something else entirely)

Tolerated...

Hell...

Oh well.
Nice work shavixmir, hahahahah! You know you can't just make up a new word on this forum anymore, these days it's considered thread hijacking, and for the next three pages it'll be an intolerized running gag.

No.
You're not allowed to grow it. You're not allowed to sell it and you're not allowed to buy it.
You are allowed to carry up to 3 grams on you.

Right.

You are tolerated to sell it. You are tolerated to buy it. But you are not tolerated to carry up to three grams on you, because you are legalised to carry that much on you.

It's not that difficult.

You are, however (and this is where it gets a little more complicated), not tolerated to grow it.
So, marijuana plantations get rolled up quite frequently.

Well, why the bleep didn't you say so? 🙄😉

By the way, I'm pretty impressed with the english ability of you folks for whom English is not a first language - you and Angie come to mind right away; there are others.

Busherated....I like that. As long as you know how to pronounce "nucular" 😉

It's a little early in the morning over here for that level of humor. I'm sure I'll laugh out loud when I reread that at lunchtime....😛😉

Of course there are those who would contend that English is a second language for Scots....😲

I'm afraid we don't tolerize that sort of generalisation here at RHP...

😉

I totally agree. In general, I don't generalize at all. I was merely referring to a generalized opinion that other folks reportedly have been known to have....😏

People here (centre of Holland) have plants in their gardens. They are not allowed to do so, but the police turns a blind eye...
That's 'tolerated'.

Tolerated is not a legal term, it's whatever is the outcome of this absurd policy of ours.

Maybe you're living in the 'wrong' part of Holland, in some parts they (chiefs of police, mayors) beg for legalization in order to fight drugrelated crime. And so they don't give the 'good guys' a hard time.

In other more quiet parts they have the luxury of being tough on people.

Nobody said it, but the fear of losing this current policy on weed may have been a large factor in the big NO Holland gave to Europe.

But that's a different story I guess.
