Vertigo

General

I have had severe vertigo for over 24 hours.
Extremely dizzy where I can't even walk or stand up.
That dizziness has made me puke 🤮 over and over.
I feel like I'm on a boat in the ocean during a hurricane.
I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

So how does someone get vertigo?
And how do you get rid of it?

@Contenchess

This is serious.
Seek professional medical advice.

Tomorrow I'm going to the hospital if it's not better.

It's something to do with the ear.

Very strange.

I have no idea.

I've had vertigo for years. The meds didn't work for me. The attacks seemed worse during other illnesses.

How long did each episode last?
What were your symptoms?
Any remedies?

Sorry you're not feeling well. I used to suffer from a bit of that, though not so severe, along with the occasional panic attack. Started doing 30 min. of yoga exercises a day and it all gradually vanished. Hope this helps. 🙂

I will translate from a Swedish magazine - I know a couple of friends who had it at least once:

"Kristallsjuka, som också benämns godartad lägesyrsel, är en vanlig form av yrsel som har sin orsak i att de små kalkkristallerna inuti i innerörat har lossnat. Kristallsjukan är en mycket vanlig form av yrsel.

The crystal disease or benign positional vertigo us a very common form of vertigo which is caused by the small calcium crystals inside the inner ear are loose. This disease which is very unpleasant can be medically treated.

If you haven't taken anything (or overindulged) then it does indeed sound like an ear infection. Definitely contact your GP. Don't wait.

(Although feel free to move in our game.)

This approach takes the burden off the health service at this time of year. If only others showed this level of thoughtfulness and came up with similar remedies of their own.

Doing okay over there? I have only had vertigo twice in my life, and don't wish to have it again.

I think it was the Epley Maneuver which helped me both times (it's a sequence of postures that helps to get the rogue crystals out of where they shouldn't be).

This article mentions Epley and three other approaches, so I'm hoping this helps as a start:

BUT if you also have a fever, you really had better get to the ER/A&E.
