why do so many 'adults' own and regularly play video games? i thought this was something everyone grew out of, like weekly baths but seemingly i'm mistaken. why so?

I started on Pong and haven't stopped.

I read your words, and they're in perfectly good English, but for some reason when put together they make no sense to me.😕

Agreed, why is it that certain people hold the conviction that games (of any sort) should be grown out of? I should think it a very poor thing for a man to grow out of the joy of play, a very poor thing indeed.

Admit it, you're just too cheap to buy a video game.

Video Games =

Waste of time.
Waste of money.
Waste of synapses.
Waste of space in the home.
Waste of space in relationships.

Note: the games I'm referring to are the violent type; puzzle games or any game
with a learning focus, or a high mental strain do have value.

Escapism and mental downtime. Everyone needs something that lets the synapses recharge.

my parents tried to convince me of all of that garbage. might as well say movies are pointless, and music prohibits quality study time! i didn't get to own my own games until i was 18

To you, maybe. To many of us they are fun, mental exercise, good value for money and encourage relationships.

Shame, you're missing out.

i would normally say there is nothing childish about video games, but after a last minute goal cost me the world-cup and i suddenly found a barage of expletives leave my mouth and my controller flying at the x-box and a look from my wife that she normally reserves for naughty children, i thought for a seconed that my behaviour was indeed childish.............but then i rememberd it was the cup final and it was my manly duty to sulk.

Video games are awesome.

Of course anyone can pick a different distraction... like alcohol or substance abuse.

Live and let live.
