no what is funny trevor is the emotional immaturity of those that put things at a level that one should be able to rise above....many people are not...

I don’t doubt that’s its true, similar things have happened here (n. Ireland) but to say “great quote” is just plain wrong.

i think you'll find it's the "black comedy moment" of the quote that he's getting at, like as if it was taken from "give my head peace", or "man about dog". Its not as if he was trying to glorify the violence, or even picking a side. To take it to the point of suggesting that posting a true fact like that on this chess site could help cause something like e horrors of holy cross school, is a bit precious mate.

I understand the sentiment you are trying to put across, but put the phrase into prespective. . .If it wasnt about catholics and protestants, you'd be laughing easy.

i hope you dont take offence at me pointing this out 🙂

i knew what he meant when he posted it, a bit of lighthearted humour. but this is a subject that is very close to me, i see things like this very week, people afraid of walking in a certain area just because of their religion - its ridiculous not something that any humour should be put on. my post happened about 100 metres from where i am now, what can i say his "joke" offended me.

Fair enough, i understand.
There's areas of Dublin, or the republic in general i dont like being in. I've only been up north once, in Ballymena, at a martial arts comp with a bunch of dubs, and we were advised not to go outside the hotel at night.(this would've been about four years ago).

As for the comment i can well believe it happened, and to say it doesnt would be a lie. . .but like i say, i take your point.

to be quite honest i'd need to go home to tell you, i took the shampoo bottles with me, and they have the name on them.

But we were guests of the White tigers, and the comp was in the sports centre about 3/4 mile down the road. Other things i remember are, possibly a masonic lodge next door, a petrol garrage across the street, down a lane, and across another busier street (vague i know), and a big painting of king billy about 50 yard to the left if standing at the door facing out.

If you wait till tomorrow and search for this thread, i'll post the name for you.

It could've been on the corner, and there was a chinese, and a chip shop across the street. The sport centre was like i said, about 3/4 mile to 1 mile leaving from the hotel turning left, following the rtoad pretty much all the way.
As for the sports centre being near houses, i couldnt say either way, it could be. The competition was opened by the mayor, and i have the program at home, if i wasnt at work right now, i could tell you everything you ask.
