Gee... Now that you're saying it I remember that they snatched Metallica's award one year and Lars made some very sarcastic comments when they won it for the black album ... Oh well, it's downloaded now, I'll have a listen later

There's no need to say more.
Mtv is only commercial crap.

Sorry to rock the boat - but what is your definition of "Metal Music"?
It enscapsulates so many different types of music, e.g, Black Metal, Doom Metal, Speed Metal, Glam Rock (Just kidding) etc etc.
Personally, I used to be into the really heavy stuff such as Napalm Death, Morgoth, a bit of Megadeth; old Metallica; Slayer and Sepultura.
If you really want to branch out a bit, try something like Deicide (recently played in Bradford Rio's, UK) who have been around for ages; or maybe someone like Cathedral.
My housemate has been a Goth for 15 years - and he's into Nick Cave!
Remember Leeds is the birthplace of Goth! - The Sisters used to live above a chemist in Beeston - with their drum machine!
Originally posted by The Slow PawnHm, goth. This brings back good memories. Fields of the Nephilim is generally slow, but they rely on a guitar-sound and a singer with an impressive low voice. Consider your taste for metal, I think you might like them, especially their first albums.
Bauhaus - I'll have a look (never heard, but then I'm quite new to goth music !!)
<snip>
Fields of the Nephilim, Cure, Sixth Comm, Joy Division, Tones on Tail, Nick Cave, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Shock Therapy, No more, Mekons, Fair Sex, Sisterhood, James Ray, The Mission ... Starrman, any chances you could recommend any of them (preferably th ...[text shortened]... ?)
Thanks guys, keep it going, I'll feedback once I've got a few 'new' albums
Boris
Bauhaus is great, can't recommend them enough. I'd definitly check out Joy Division too, that was one intense band. And Except for the ones already mentioned Mephisto Walz, The Virgin Prunes, Goethe's Erben, Das Ich and Christian Death are some of my other favorites.
In the elektro end of the new wave/goth spectrum, I really like Project Pitchfork, Nitzer Ebb and older work of Front 242.
And (this might be pretty obvious from my avatar) I think Einstürzende Neubauten is really excellent.
And my absolute favorite, both his very old and very new work, with songs to fit every mood, lyrics that sometimes impress and a discography to takes days to explore: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (who started out withThe Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party). If I'm a fan of anyone, it's of him.
Best regards,
David

HORROR SHOW
HAMMER FALL
