Originally posted by darvlayYep, it's new - just released in August i think. as for Oceanic i have to confess i haven't heard it, but someone told me P is a kind of logical progression from O.
Is this the new one? Is it as good as oceanic?
In addition to the albums i mentioned before - Sourvein's 'Will to Mangle' is well worth a listen...
Originally posted by PhlabibitJethro Tull!!!!!!!!!! The album with the band walking through loads of leaves (on the cover picture) is the best one. Takes a while to get into/used to the style but man, they rock.
I also want to add this was a joke! Jethro Tull is good, and they won an award in the mid 90's for being the 'best Metal band'.
They are not metal, but they are good music.
Hope you enjoy.
P-
THEY ROCK!!! 😵
In my opinion, the top two metal bands out there are Opeth and Nevermore. If you're into Iron Maiden, I think you'll really love Nevermore. Check out the albums Dreaming Neon Black, Dead Heart in a Dead World, or The Politics of ecstasy. They're very thrash-metal influenced with lots of compicated riffs and harmonies tied together, with an outstanding vocalist.
Opeth is a different thing entirely. Using a mixture of the most evil death metal roar you'll ever hear on top of some wild chord progressions coupled with beautifully sung acoustic passages, they take the whole light/dark thing to an entirely new level. Check out Still Life, Blackwater Park, or Deliverence. If you can get past the death metal roar (it took me a little while) this is probably the most rewarding metal out there to hear.
There's another band from Sweden called Soilwork who write some really crazy stuff. Check out Natural Born Chaos or A Predator's Portrait.
Originally posted by TJN22Good to see Savatage and TSO mentioned, Dead Winter Dead and Wake of Magellan are both amazing albums. You may want to try their older stuff too when Criss Oliva was still alive like Edge of Thorns, Streets, or Gutter Ballet.
SAVATAGE: THE WAKE OF MAGELLAN
DEAD WINTER DEAD
GIVE THESE A LISTEN AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

P.S. IF YOU LIKE THE STYLE OF SAVATAGE (CONCEPT ALBUMS) YOU MIGHT GIVE **TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRE: BEETHOVEN ...[text shortened]... ON ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE SEEN IN 25YRS OF CONCERT-GOING.
TSO is basically a symphonic Savatage, making the music much more dramatic. Beethoven's Last Night and Christmas Eve and Other Stories are both incredible, the latter being the only Christmas music I really like. I saw them in Seattle two years ago and I can also attest that it was one of the best shows I've seen.
