Yes, because programmers do not deserve to be paid for their time and efforts. They don't need to eat, pay for their kids' school, and the electricty they use to run the computers they need to develop those programs is free as well.

Many programs have a free version and a paid version which has more features. [along the lines of RHP]
The small independent developers deserve to be supported, but when their programs get snapped up by huge companies nothing changes to the program, they just cancel the free version. In that scenario I would personally agree that they are greedy.
If you don't like the conditions, there is nothing to stop you or somebody else from developing a similar application. (We will ignore the absurdity of most software patents)
Greedy? I think not.

I highly doubt the "freeware" programmers really thought that the company was going to buy their software out of the goodness of their souless corporate heart. They know the company is going to SELL the program when they sell-out. IF they really wanted to ensure that the program remained free, they would make that part of the contract.
Originally posted by tmetzlerYes I've just read it, and perhaps you have a valid point. But I wish you read my posts properly before heaping on the sarcastic BS.

Come on now Jim.
My comment was certainly not the most venom-laced sarcastic comment ever posted on these boards. I'd venture to say it was fairly mild in comparison.
By referring to the people selling the software as greedy, it directly infers that the programmers themselves were greedy.
Cheers!

The programs mostly have pro versions that are paid for in the first place and which the big money is made from but they want more.
Definately greedy profiteers in my opinion.

Why the hell can't I get a simple DL for converting a wav to mp3?

Ps, I've gone as far as cheating and looking on Limewire, but after the 5th download (and 5th Trojan), I gave up.
Looks like you'll have to put your hand in your sweaty pocket. 😛

You can get the Switch basic version free here*, after a while it will tell you the demo period has expired, "do you want to upgrade to the "plus" version etc etc" - if you answer 'no' you can continue with the basic version it seems.
