Wedding gift

Been invited to a wedding, it's my other half's work mate. It's her first western wedding, and the girl has asked for money gifts (which is quite normal here in Ireland these days).

How much is normal to give for a gift ?

Money gifts. I hate them. It's like one of the most rude things there are in this world.

You will make them the favor of drinking their booze, eating their food, and dancing in the place rented by them... and they want money on top of that?!?!?!?

Bastards. Give them nothing! 😠

If she's fit 50 quid.

If she's ugly a WHSmith token for 3 quid.

There's your boundary marks. 😀

I actually agree with you!!

Freinds have asked for money before and I always give them a present becasue they are making a special day and your gift should be something to help them remember the day by.

(I give money too though, don't want to upset anyone!!)

The cost of living is so high here in Ireland, that it is normal for couples to ask for money as a gift. What with the house prices, and whatnot, it actually seems helpful to help pay for the event. The average cost of a wedding here is €30,000, i think 😛

Conclusion: Marry in the Chapel of Love, in Las Vegas.

It's only 100 USD and the priest gets to dress like Elvis.

30,000 Uros!!!! 😲

But your gift should be something they can tresure, like a silver cutler set or nice picture frame for the wedding photos. I can understand the want for money, sure. It'd be nice if they just wanted something from their freinds that reminds them of you and that special day though. More if they are close freinds I guess though- work collegues- if I had any ( 🙁 ) I'd just give them money maybe.

or, in the event that the groom is a 96yo billionaire tycoon and the bride is a busty 20-something blonde nympho, a defibrillator and a DIY pre-nup kit might come in handy.

Would that double for a couple ? I've been invited after the fact, and we're staying overnight at some hotel somewhere (the one the Wedding is being held in).
