I once ate a peach and when I looked at it after my second or third bite, a tiny worm was wiggling around in the flesh. It took a long time to eat another peach. I cried immediately, then puked.

KFC FYSHWICK CONVICTED FOR SELLING MASHED POTATOES
WITH COCKROACH
ACT Health Protection Service yesterday successfully prosecuted KFC Fyshwick for
selling mashed potatoes containing a cockroach.
Anna Simone Global Restaurants Pty Ltd pleaded guilty to a charge under Section
23(2) of ACT Food Act 2001 in the ACT Magistrates Court on 20 May 2003. The
charge against St Anna Simone Global Restaurants Pty Ltd, trading as KFC
Fyshwick, was for selling a tub of mashed potato and gravy that contained a
biological agent, namely a cockroach that is foreign to the nature of the food.
Magistrate Cahill in the ACT Magistrates Court heard the case and found the charge
proved but recorded no conviction based on the previous good record of the business,
however they were required to donate $750 to the ACT Bush Fire Appeal.
The KFC store located in Fyshwick sold the product to a consumer who brought the
product to the attention of the Health Protection Service on 13 February 2003. The
customer purchased a tub of mashed potato and gravy from KFC Fyshwick on the
day. Later at her workplace and after having consumed most of the product, she
found what appeared to be a cockroach in it. The sample was submitted to the CSIRO
Division of Entomology for analysis and was identified as a native cockroach.
General Manager of the Health Protection Service, Mr John Woollard, said, “The sale
of food that contains foreign matter is an offence under the ACT Food Act.
“The current ACT food law imposes heavy fines for food businesses who sell food
that contains foreign matter that is either unsafe or unsuitable. In this case the
presence of cockroach in the food highlights the importance for food businesses to
maintain their operations in a hygienic manner and to have an ongoing pest control
program in place,” Mr Woollard said.
The current penalty under ACT food law for food businesses found guilty of selling
food with foreign matter that is unsuitable is $40,000 for an individual or $200,000
for a corporation.

An ipod nano? Did it still work?
I once found gnats on my banana. I eat a lot of organic food, so I frequently bite into fruits that have caterpillars, worms, etc. I just eat them for the extra protein. Can't hurt. Unless they're fly larvae.

Ever find something in your food that didn't belong? One time in college, I found a cockroach in my chicken wings. I also found a cockroach in my hot-n-sour soup one time that I got in Chinatown (Boston). Another time, I found broken glass in a Thomas' Bagel. A friend of mine found an ipod nano in his mashed potatoes.
Have you ever found anything s ...[text shortened]... ? Maybe you're eating something right now. There could be something there. You never know.

I just had to spit it out and promised myself never to eat a pear gain. I kept that promise for a lot of years. But these days I can eat pears again. Very seldom of course and always on the lookout.

Did I tell you that I constantly find moth larvae in my potatoes? I have to cut those up too.
Larvae, maggots, worms, etc. are all very high in protein, but then again, so is just about all the rest of the meat I eat.
