You young whippersnappers, you don't know how lucky you are. Wait till you hit the big 5-0 like I did last year, then you can b****,moan, and complain. I'm so old,I get jealous of a stiff wind! I told my doctor I wanted to quit aging-he gave me a gun! I walked past a cemetary the other day,2 guys ran after me with shovels! During sex I lose my place! By the way I have my steak and sex the same way-very rare! I tell ya,it's not easy being me!π π π

The cool of the evening is the best part of the day, if you know what I mean.
Do you realise that you have a good chance of living another 30 to 40 years?! Are you going to complain for the whole lot of them? Then you'd better use the gun the doctor offered you NOW!!
When I was 40 I read a book "Life begins at forty!". And it sure does! Like I said before, all the peer pressures of youth, and counting (and comparing!!) your conquests are fortunately over.
When I was 55 I retired from a high powered executive job, and now I take life easy, do about 15 post-grad students a year, and spend a lot of time with what I enjoy most - nature and wildlife.
Sundown, you'd better find that switch in your brain and turn it to: Today is a precious day, THIS time of my life is the absolute best! Otherwise you will turn into a bitter and twisted old man, and we already have enough of THOSE! (Some of them are aged 33!!)
Enjoy today!

I was standing under the shower after a nice work-out at the gym, and thought some more about this thread.
Why is it that youthfulness is held in such high esteem today?? Why is it thought to be so valuable??
That brought me to the concept of VALUE. Anything is deemed valuable if, IMHO, it is firstly rare, and secondly retains its value indefinitely.
For example, nobody would pay thousands (or millions) of $$ for a diamond if there was a chance that in a year or two it could be worthless. I would not pay a fortune for a house if I did not believe that it was "worth it", and retain its value.
Firstly, youth is not rare - we all have had it at one time or another!
Secondly, why do we think something is so valuable that we bemoan its loss, when we all know in advance that the loss of it is an absolute certainty!!
I know this is not the Debates forum, but this is a subject I would love to debate with somebody. It is my premise that the pre-occupation with "youthfulness" in our present society, which is demonstrated in every facet of our lives, be it advertising, sports or even employment, is one of the (if not the premier) causes of the emotionally sick state of our society.
Any takers??
Have a great day. It's the only one you've got! (Now THAT's great value!)
