Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I'm not normally a fan of comic novels, but this is the funniest thing I've read in a long time: it's the diary of a teenager with Asperger's Syndrome who sets about investigating who stuck a garden fork in his neighbour's dog.

I loved that book.
