Just ordered Jeremy Silman's 'Reassess your chess' which is supposed to be pretty good, a lot of people on this site seem to endorse it, not sure about reading chess books though. Not quite the same as a novel and if I tried reading it on the bus to work I'd probably get called a geek and get eggs thrown at me. Of the people who read chess books, do you use a board to help visualise?
Back to fiction, War & Peace sits in my bookshelf untouched waiting for me to have a free month to read it. Is it worth the effort?

I rarely read a book over 400 pages..Most are not worth the writing...
WIth Tolstoy you find the good bits between the bad....
