your mother gave you good advice
I try to keep one book going at all times
    currently reading 'Valley Forge'
I was ignorant for years in thinking that Valley Forge was a battle
a very good book and cements my belief that Washington was our greatest president
You might also enjoy 1776 by David McCullough, an outstanding narrative providing more insights into that critical period.

We just finished reading to each other:

Kling: Quality Land. I hope it will be translated into English one day. It is a really well put critique of todays' world.

On Monday I will see the film 'The Wife' based on a novel by Meg Wolitzer, with the amazing Glenn Close as the wife and Jonathan Price, her husband and famous, much acclaimed writer. I expect a lot of this film.

You're quite the reader Lollo (if I may?). A very nice list of ingested literature indeed.

I've grown rather old and lazy when it comes to novels. (That's my excuse anyway!) But I still read poetry and history in small doses.

Thanks for inspiring me to do better. 🙂

Thank you too! I like to have a good book available at any time. Sometimes when I start a new book, such as 'The Son', to get the feel of it, I start reading it on the bus home which I did today. I'm entering a new world that way and it's waiting for me when I get the time to continue. I love it.
And Lollo is fine with me, you're welcome.

Richard Schwatz: Askir Saga (now in vol. 9)

A quite ok high Fantasy Saga with very interesting consepts of Society and Magic. One sees that it has been written by an engineer.

I have just finished Julian Barnes: The sense of en ending

A very intense read, especially the second part. Barnes writes a very good style and has quite interesting ideas as I have observed with other books I have read.

This one can only be understood fully at the end... and asks a few questions about our responsabilities as we go through our lives.

    Highly recommeded.
