Here's your chance to vote for my next beer adventure. Last night I enjoyed my first Boddingtons. A good time was had by all.

What brand should I try next? Of course I am somewhat limited in what may be locally available, but I'll make an effort to get some of the top vote getter.

Vote early! I'm thirsty already!

If you're ever in Manchester, you must try Joseph Holt's fine ale. Shlurp.

Deuchars IPA, although i'm unsure if this is readily available outside of Scotland.

It would help if we knew which country you live in. Oh well, I'd recommend Saku Originaal from Estonia.

Being a big fan of continental beers, particularly German beer, which is brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot (purity law) may I recommend you experience Lowenbrau ? a lovely golden pils from Munchen.
You could try Stella,Labatts,Stern,Carlsberg ... the list goes sadly on... as they are mostly imitations brewed in the UK :'( and after all, if you were buying a Rolls Royce, would you want one from Japan !!!
Enjoy
😀

They have it in my local - a medicre beer IMHO.

My personal favourite is probably Theakston's Old Peculier - a lovely, malty, deep beer. Great. More of a winter beer though. For a lighter, summer beer - I'd go for either Summer Lightning or Firecrest (which is exclusive to Sainsburys).

Old Peculier is probably my favourite, although it's a heavy beer, so might not be to all tastes.
I like Adnams Broadside Ale as well, Timothy Taylors, Black Sheep and lots of the more region specific ones you can't get everywhere (I always try a local beer when I travel).
Of course, if you prefer lager beer, none of this will apply. In which case I suggest a white beer like Hoegaarden (probably the only widely available one).

Just been thinking about this. I reckon we're advising all wrong. He tried and liked Boddingtons...maybe we should encourage him to start drinking dishwater or a pint of cat's urine perhaps...

True, I wouldn't recommend Boddington's to my worst enemy...

Boddington's is a step up from Bud Light. A step that many people never make at all. We need to nurture our novice beer drinker along slowly. We can't expect him to start drinking Russian Imperial Stouts right off the bat.

I would advise an IPA (India Pale Ale) of whatever brand.

Greene King IPA - not as strong as Abbot - therefore easier to consume in quantity. Nice zippy taste in a fine red ale.

..and there's always Guinness

Tried the dishwater years ago, but so much depends on the choice of soap it's hard to get a consistent batch.

As to the cats pee... I've got three cats, but haven't had any luck getting them to cooperate. I'll keep you posted.
