Does chess teach you valueble lessons you can use in life? For me, it teaches one how to think logically and rationally, and with this methods, you can apply it in real life situations on processes which rewards you for doing so. It also teaches me that when one is encountered with a situation, try to look at the problem from all angles and formulate a plan to face it. This, once again, can be applied to all problems in life. Most importantly, it teaches me how I can approach something with patience instead of going head on without a plan.

At times in chess, even the best possible move is not good enough to draw or win, because of previous bad decisions.Sometimes in life your best move won't be good enough either, and for the same reason.

That's very good.

I say, "Never give up, even when the assshole you're up against is urging you to."

Sometimes one must give up things to have a better advantage in life.

chess shows me almost the exact opposite ...

in a clearly determined position, most players will still give you a chance to turn things around.

Chess teaches me patience; helps me focus; gives self-confidence; shows me there is more than one way to solve a problem (or to get out of one), which spawns creativity; and reminds me that, no matter how hard I try, I'm not always gonna get my way.

Noooooooo! Don't associate chess with real life, please. I use it as a form of escapism from all that s***.
