What does chess do to your brain ?
I am intrigued by the 'use and disuse theory', namely that the more you use your brain for one thing, the better it becomes at other (sometimes totally unrelated) things - the reverse applying to disuse.
Does chess fit in with this ? Anybody have any interesting experiences viz this idea ?

Chess teaches me that I am a sad pathetic individual who spends large amounts of time in front of a computer screen instead of going out with friends to have a good meal and a glass of wine. It also teaches me that I have a strong obsessive-compulsive streak which leads me to try something I initially liked over and over again until I leach the joy out of it.

Chess teaches me that I am a NERD.

Chess teaches you not to expose your bishop unless you wish to bring shame upon your family.
