I care for all my fellow players. How are multiple accounts detected? Obviously with different addresses, this could be very difficult. I play at home and at work using the same login. If I was devious (and really cared about my anonymous rating) .....??
I don't get it! what's in it for these people? Isn't it like marrying yourself to avoid getting caught cheating on your partner?
every computer has a different IP address. Once you login at a computer, your username is automatically attached to that IP address. Just because your username has multiple address' attached to it, doesn't mean you have more than 1 account. When a different username comes up under the IP address thats allready attached to your name, red flags go up and it usually mean you have more than one name.

I would assume Russ and the mods run the PGN through the engine and see how it matches up. And I wouldn't be bragging about having more than 1 account if I were you.

OIC, but my user names are different. One is a corporate account name, the other is my own. I can see how some in my situation could play using different user names. Can't see a way around it.
How are chess engines detected?

Many people appear to play at work from computers at work as well as for home.

I gather Jacob 6789 also had another user name (or two) but logged in multiple names on the same machine.
