most people enjoy playinggames in which they at least have a chance to win. If one is plays too well or too bad its not much fun, is it?

or time odds. or material odds.
Eh, wormwood, any good chess clubs in Helsinki ? I am probably going to live there for 2 years starting from october 😛 ?
I've played a lot of time odds games. My favorite is a series of games where you and your opponent alternate colors each game. Time starts at 5 minutes + 1 second delay. Each time you win you lose a minute from your starting time. First person to win starting with 1 minute on their clock wins the match (I give odds by saying if you win with 3 minutes before I win with 1 you win or in some cases if they even win 1 game).
Your best bet however is to join a club. OTB chess is by far the most exciting type of chess to be found.
Originally posted by ivan2908there's at least 15 clubs here, but probably more. haven't been in any of them as I don't play otb. 'shakkivelhot' (chess wizards) is probably the strongest, although HSK (helsinki chess club) has apparently been beating them in national league recently.

jusuh moved here last autumn I think, he probably plays otb somewhere and could tell you more. if he doesn't bite your head off, that is...
Your really fortunate to have chess clubs available. There are two clubs within a 50 mile radius of me and both have only 3 members and those don't show up half the time. I tried to start a chess club in my immediate area and after putting up posters, ads in the newspapers, and even getting the community hall for our use, I had one mother and her 3 children all under 12 yrs. old. Again, appreciate what you have available for your enjoyment.
