I think it did. I mean, who expects to get headbutted in the chest?
An tall lanky nerdy trash talking player maybe?

In the chest though. That's what was so funny about it to me.

It's bloody hard to head butt to the groin.
Lucky for the Italian chap it wasn't to the face.

What I thought was funny was it seemed to work,in shutting the other guys mouth.(Does the Italian player even have a name?? just curious)

So you're on the "he deserved it" side of this heated debate??

I still dont get the Man city comment ,but the comments about Zidanes mom etc were way over the line.(IMO)
I reckon they both deserved it..

Man City [and West Ham] are league clubs in the UK.

I kinda think the mother comments were far worse than the general trash talk about him being old and needing to go into minor leagues.

They should've both been sent off but as the ref didn't even see the head butt, there was no chance of him even knowing what was going on beforehand.

It was a classic case of a big mouth that thought he was bad ,getting knocked flat on his ass.Oh...Poor baby's ass got hurt and maybe the wind knocked out of him...oh boo hoo mean old Zidane. If I were Zidane I would have Pummeled him to a bloody corpse, then ate his heart.
Exactly the kind of attitude that gives the fans such a great reputation.

The ref didn't see the headbutt until they replayed it on the scoreboard.

Lucky it wasn't Peter Crouch insulting him.

Did you see Ricky Gervais meeting Crouch and Rooney before the World Cup. [I posted it somewhere else, before anyone bites my head off] 😀

What was said to Zidane... This is a disgrace - FIFA need to actually do something for a change. You can't have players making slurs like that against a fellow pro.
From Soccernet; Since Sunday evening the whole World has been debating what Italian defender Marco Materazzi said to Zinedine Zidane to make the retiring Frenchman react in the way he did. h for Man City now" It's at this very point Zidane turned and head-butted him.
Where did you find these quotes? What's the evidence that Materazzi these racist things? Materazzi admits insulting Zidane-- but he denies saying anything about Muslim or terrorism. Zidane (as far as I know) has not said that Materazzi made racist remarks. Various lipreaders have interpreted the comments various ways, but I have yet to see this exact version.

So what's your source, Derfel? I certainly hope you have something pretty authoritative before making accusations of racism and treating them as matters of fact.

Let's see the source, now.
