What's in a Nickname...

Five grandchildren came up with gb on their own several years ago. My son set me up on RHP, last July, for the sole purpose of playing

casual chess games with the two oldest in the Boston area. Then the global opponent window opened... quite to my total and pleasant

surprise. In hindsight, maybe I would have chosen Svenska or Viking One (Swedish ancestry and oldest of five) or Boston Lad. Thanks.

🙂

If you are asking why everyone picked their user name, its happened many times. But I don't really see a question here.

Thanks, PK. Unaware of the 'many times' before. Darv's thread concerning diminishing general forum participation

motivated this attempt to spark interest. Perhaps newcomers might enjoy the nick give and take. How about yours?

I couldn't think of a nickname. One day my boss commented how I like to keep the meat cooler ice cold. It sounded good at the time. 🙂

And would the meat cooler also be where you usually keep the ice cold beer? That would sound quite good anytime.

My friend, who recommended I join this site, told me I would need to come up with a good, fun name and to send him a message when I had joined. 😀

No alcohol is sold at my work place. We do sell homemade rootbeer. 😀
Thank God there's a bar next door to my work place. 😞

My user name is pretty much just one of my initials followed by my last name. I was not creative enough to come up with anything to put other than that 😀

Just kidding, but I have many passions, and I couldn't decide which one to have my user name be named after. But in real life, I have several nicknames.

Running Wind is one of my nicknames, because one of my close friends has always thought I looked Native American, and thought this would be fitting.

Asia is one of my others, simply because my mother is of 100% Pacific Islander Origin (The Philippines). I also do happen to take on a large number of characteristics that would lead somebody to the impression that I am Asian.

Fennessy (KFenn as gb has titled me), simply either my last name or a combination of parts of my last name and/or initial. Fennessy was my nickname first labeled upon me by my best friend, in the 3rd grade or so. He still calls me that to this day.

So, what makes a nickname? I myself have no idea, but if the shoe fits, so should the nickname 😀

Peace be with you all.

I did wonder - then I thought an African anthropologist might have something to do with it, so I kept my mouth shut to avoid looking a bigger idiot than usual.
