Hi!
I'm going on a conference in Newport rhode Island (july 30 to august 8) and I'm bringing my girlfriend along. What's good to see/visit/do over there?
Thanks
Eric

Well it isn't the home of the Americas Cup anymore but I'm sure you could find a museum about sailing or go sailing.

I used to live there. You can visit the Robber Baron Mansions from the Victorian Age on Belleview Ave...these are serious houses to make one wonder how someone could live like they did, there is the Newport Tennis Club...maybe see some matches, go sailing, swimming at one of three beaches (water should be warm by your arrival). The "Cliff Walk" is a walk along the edge of a precipice that has lots of vertcal drops to the ocean and rocks below...well kempt, but still dangerous if you're drunk...or stupid....Purgatory Chasm, a natural cleft 20 feet wide in the cliff formed eons ago-nice nature walk there....Boston is only 70 minutes away....there are plenty of pubs and bars on the Island, good restaraunts....a good shopping promenade...take your bikes and cruise the 10-mile Ocean Drive skirting the southern edge of the Island....beautiful scenery and more Mansions to see-bike friendly....the mansion on "Dark Shadows" is on this trek...visit the church where JFK and Jackie were married (downtown)...deep sea fishing is available by charter boat, or just simply relax in a bed and breakfast inn...have fun!

It's what you do once a year when you live in a crime infested capitalistic dull nightmare.
