if money isn't an issue whats the best antivirus software and why?

currently i have kasparsky 2009, it works pretty well, it blocks a lot of viruses and trogans, but it dosen't detect spyware. so i get these annoying pop-ups now and again.

i need to either add a program that works against spyware or just end up getting a new antivirus softeware that works on both viruses and spyware. any suggestions?

edit: is their a computer website thats a reliable source that would give me say the top 10 or 20 antivirus software?

I used to trust Zone Alarm, but someone recently told me it was lacking now.

There success lulled them into complacency.

I'd like to know also.

I still use AVG Free Edition. It hasn't let me down yet. Much.

Try Avast. I have used it for 4 years now without problems.

Very helpful. What are you flying for spy and virus protection?

I have Norton360. Downloaded & paid for from Symantec.
Worked fine for a while then I started getting error messages, not protected etc. A month later, hours with their techs, uninstalls and reinstalls still the same problem. I just want a refund but getting nowhere.

I use AVG Free on this pc and the pro version of MalwareBytes [though the free version is excellent too]
AVG has a built in Anti-Spyware feature.

I would definitely recommend these for home use.
Also, I consider Spywareblaster a brilliant addition.

All 3 free.

I would disagree. On some forums I visit, people with viruses looking for help to get rid of their viruses/spyware have AVG. I have never seen people with Zone Alarm looking for help like AVG, so Zone Alarm is better than AVG.

Also Zone Alarm comes with a firewall so Antivirus+Firewall is better than just Antivirus.

I use Zone Alarm firewall and AVG anti-virus. I also use FF with things like adblock, noscript, etc.

Can't say I've had a problem for years.

I am using this products free firewall, but I am hearing good things about their new AV product the Viper. http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/

As for me I am doing pretty much the same as DR Strangelove with no major problems for years that these tools don't solve.

AGV - Did I mention free and still does one heck of a good job? I never have problems that can't be solved but then I don't use PTP or check out porno which is where most of it seems to get installed.

Malwarebytes - I think this is the best combination of tools available. It even has driver updates.

Sywareblaster - this helps prevent some stuff from ever getting installed

Spybot search and destroy - this has some pretty good additional tools
