The building was put up in 1964,but the family that owns it has had a resturant there since 1937.
The most famous thing about the drive in is it was used in some movies.And there is also a local legend that the producer of "Happy Days" T.V. show ate there and was inspired to have Arnold's drive in.
Personally I think Arnolds was inspired by Mel's Drive in.The one in "American Grafitti", as Mel's is the more famous drive in.
