Agreed. Rap=Urghh! 😞

The most awful thing I heard the other day was a [apparently popular] British girl trying to sound like a US rapper - it was effin ridiculous, and horrible.
It sounds like you guys can make music

Well I like hip hop, rap, R&B,

Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, Ludacris,...

R&B's good.
I dislike most of the rap that my kids choose, but find a lot of Hip-Hop that appeals to me when I delve in for myself. Some is terrific poetry.

Some music historians allege that the first rap song recorded was "Trouble Every Day" on Freak Out! by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. I like that song, and the album that it's on.

Classic R&B is good, but the most popular contemporary artists irritate me. I suspect my age shows here, but I am fairly confident in my belief that Sam Cooke offered originality, while Destiny's Child offers uninspired imitation.

When I need a good laugh I turn on BET here in the US and watch a show called 106th & Park....it's hilarious. The emcees talk back and forth in staccatto 4 word "sentences" using english that is so ebonifucked I can't understand a word of it....great stuff.

You don't need to be able to do something to enjoy it I have never wrote a book but that doesn't mean I can't read one. I have never really made any music but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy listening to it. I have never directed a film but that doesn't mean I can't watch and enjoy one. I could never make an internal combustion engine but that doesn't mean I will not use one, I know enough to use it and a little more and that gets me by, I can ride a trials bike without the ability to make one or even do complex engine work.

I hate r'n'b, hip-hop, and rap (certainly in its more modern forms), with the exception of the odd good song.

Big fan of Prince, though.

Music is diffrent, you need to feel it to enjoy it really.
You can hear it without listening to it.
What your doing is watching a film with closed eyes

You can 'feel' music without having the skill to make it. I think music is great and more so live, and yet I can't play any instrument.

all of you need to listn to afromans colt 45 and palmdale before you bash on rap. his music is funny and has a good beat. rap isn't mostly about the lyrics as much as the beat. you have to be able to crank up the base.
