Do you have any scientific proof that everyone who uses cannabis, and has detrimental effects "would probably have something else that affected them anyway", or is it just the stoners excuse for any argument they cant win with facts?
If dope was legal, and wasnt filling the pockets of criminals and bastards, i would have no problem you bonging yourself to death, but its not, and it is. What you do in the safety of your own home is your buisness, heck, i'll even come to your funeral. But the detrimental effects on people and society are FACT, just because those who smoke it in the safety of their ivory tower dont see it, doent make it go away.

Medical science has only largely been able to work in the sphere of physical health, which by and large you could argue that drugs do not damage.
This leaves us with the mind and the spirit which (aside some nominal advances in psychology) modern medicine / science is not equipped to judge.
If sceintists say that something is harmless it could be for two reasons...
1 - It is harmless
2 - They can't find anything harmful which can be proven *by their methods*
My guess is that when science is sufficiently able to judge not only effects on the body but also on the mind or spirit, it will be very explicit in saying that drugs are BAD.
They said smoking was OK once. Then when they had the evidence they changed their minds.
