The Who.

They played the half-time show at the Super Bowl. Thought they did ok, so did the other folks I watched with from the garage. Today, my radio station is SLAMMING the crap out of them.

Now they've gone as far to say they like Bruce Springsteen better...

WEEI, STOP IMMEDIATLY!~

Originally--- prior to the thread being closed--- I had typed out a response relative to how nostalgia is always disappointed by reality. My response was replete with all manner of examples, witty asides and amusing anecdotes.

Someone really messed with my chi.

Did you think they "sucked"?

I know they missed a vocal here or riff there... even a guitar pick vanished... but I didn't think they sucked enough to talk about it all day.

True to original form, in a manner of speaking, and yet far removed from the same. Their whole shtick (if you will), was a basic f-you mentality toward the establishment. They were cool, and--- as 'they' back then would most assuredly tell you--- 'cool' is as cool is... right now, that is.

Translation: they've become mostly irrelevant and for that, they're not likely to be forgiven. Being a fellow appreciator of real music, I know we can both agree that they didn't suck: they just weren't them anymore.

I thought they were great. A little out of sync maybe, but that could have had something to do with the sound system.

Certainly better than Springsteen. He was awful.

I loathe Springsteen. The Who should have stopped making music when half the band had died.

But nowhere nearly as good as Justin Timberlake and "That Jackson woman".
