Why do people cheat?
Because the can. Because inherantly, people are selfish and will get away with what they can. Some are more than others, some are nothing but selfish and others are rarely ever...The factors that balance selfishness in a person are many, but essentially, it comes to that.
They don't feel good enough.
I presume the majority of people who are on here play chess because they enjoy it in some way or another. I don't see how you can enjoy cutting and pasting pgns or setting positions up on a board, then clicking a button and waiting for it to tell you what you don't want to think about for yourself and work out.
I guess some people feel a certain insecurity that people will not like them and agree with them in the forums and so have to create in essence an imaginary friend who can agree with every work that passes there lips. A person who will only offer praise and agreement. Or of course you don’t want to go through the monotony of watching your opponent play your computer so you play as both yourself and your opponent and your main account can get a little rating bump that’s easier then any timeout you have ever taken.
