Has anyone had much experience with one they liked? I've grown dissatisfied with my notebook vendor's offering. Have had a look at download.com, and got 'GOM Player' but it doesn't seem very promising. Don't need anything too fancy, just good picture and sound, sans spyware, and preferably available for free or at least free trial so i can see if i like it.

Also, any recommendations for DVD editing s/w?

thanks

thanks everyone. this must be an unprecedented display of unaminity in this forum😉

i've downloaded and installed VLC and indeed it has already solved one of my DVD viewing problems, in that it lets me tell it which track to find subtitles on for certain problem DVDs (i'm looking at you, Fellini😠)

now I won't have to learn Italian after all. thanks again for the rec.
