I'm leaving in a couple hours to head to buffalo WY for the WY State Banjo Championships, Ive been working really hard for the state title, and even though my Wyoming competition will probably be easy, this is open to anyone in the USA, which makes me nervous, Tim O'Brien is one of the judges, (in case you ever heard of him). If I win, I may get a chance fo ...[text shortened]... y timing isn't that great, but maybe, just maybe I can fool the judges for just two songs. 😛
Anyway good luck. Have fun. And hope you win.
Thanks everyone for the luck, Unfortunately I lost miserably, came like 4th place, I didn't even win my Wyoming competition, 1st place came from WY, second from Boulder CO, and third place from Pennsylvania. The judge hinted to me that I should ve played easier songs, instead of playing hot songs like I did, I made two major mistakes when trying to do some hot licks, but I was so nervous, my knees were shaking lol, Its amazing, I played in thousands of concerts, and in crowds of up to 3 thousand people, yet when I play in front of 3 judges, my fingers just don't work.
Sorry guys to disappoint you.
And no Delmer, A banjo contest isnt that much fun to listen to. lol, A banjo by itself (without a band) almost drives me insane, twang twang, lol. Now I know why banjo players got a bad name lol, a bunch of hillbillies seriously, I thought it was an old myth, but they were still that way at this festival.
The good news is that my brother got 2nd place in the WY State Mandolin contest, although he isn't qualified to go to the nationals, he got some money, My sister videoed that, I may post the link of it.

4th out of how many? Even 4th out of four is better than I would've done on any instrument (especially since I haven't played the flute in decaded). You went. You showed up. You played. That makes you a winner.
😀😀😀
a 3-smiley salute

I live about 45 miles east of Yellowstone in a town called Cody, A couple years ago I lived in Yellowstone when my dad built the Old Faithful medical clinic. Interesting place.
