The recorder is quiet romantic I agree. An unusual choice but it makes a lovelly natural soound. Good choice.

wiki has some links to some stuff - one is a webcam driven theremin, if you have a webcam you could perhaps try it (I don't so can't).

There's also instructions on building your own. Probably quite complex.
