I always thought he knew deep down inside he couldnt beat Karpov either. Its also too bad the the flamboyant ones like Tal and Fischer get all the ink, positional chess may not be as exciting, but guys like Karpov, Petrosian, etc ground countless world class players to death with near perfect positional play.

We all have the same prerequisite in terms of intelligence when brought into this world (leaving out the possibility of various brain defects), and if your gender affects how you use this intelligence later in life, then it is from a purely cultural point of view, not physical.
