DR ILL

Drink a small portion after a sort of rest.
May I answer?

I do not wish to offer my own, though.

You may take another turn.

I cannot fathom out most of the last few posts in this thread

Is some clicky group for a few select members or for a few paid people to get clicks to get revenue for the site?

The haughty need not apply.

If you have the correct answer but cannot come up with another puzzler on your own, then why bother this thread?

And who do you think you are, to tell someone else what they can or cannot do?

No wonder you can't answer it.

Please solve it then, and pose another -- or get lost.

At least I'm not a hypocrite.

Thread 204088

Solve it yourself then, stupid.

That's not how we play this game.

Yeah, but what is your answer or solution (if you even have one)?

That's how this particular game is played.

Apparently the challenging poser did not SITWELL with you, but I don't imagine that's the answer Paul had in mind.

(p.s. -- please don't hate me just because I might seem more advanced -- but also, please respect the game and get out of here if this is not the game for you -- and dare I say, please try to be more considerate)

No, at the moment you seem incapable of doing so.

Please put down the bottle and step away from the keyboard.

Do it for your future self.

I think this is still the current poser (in the context of this thread).

It’s fine to answer without coming up with a new word. We’re not too picky on who goes next as we get impatient, being in different time zones 🙂 I’ll hold back on my answer for now.

It's okay, Drew, go ahead. (Thanks for responding.)

I'm not much of a forum game player and I've stayed out of this forum for this long.

Plus, it's clear I'm not welcome here.

I will just go rather than cause a problem.

This is how crossword clues work - cryptic ones.
The clue as given should usually contain a definition and some wordplay.

Previous clue was
Doctor treating the sick a bit.
the answer was Drill.
Doctor = DR ... the sick = ILL
DR+ILL = bit (as in a drill bit)

@Paul Martin offered up the current clue -
_ I _ _ E _ _

Drink a small portion after a sort of rest.

I've offered up my own clues for the same solution -

Mixer of Argonauts blended in.
Broken rib? Test for a tonic.

You need to read the clue and break down the wordplay - hopefully matching that with a definition somewhere (usually at the beginning or end of the clue).

I know people don't read newspapers anymore, but most papers usually have a crossword that's cryptic - good place to practice.

You're more than welcome to join in.
