That's funny. I look out the window and see my country, more or less in one piece. We can argue about whether that's because of or in spite of G.W., but it's certainly not an awful lot different than it was before he took office. What country are you from?
Originally posted by mikelomWhat are you blathering about? New Orleans has been a ticking time bomb since they built the place under sea level and put up entirely insufficient dikes. That happened long before GW's time. They oughta bury the whole flippin' city under 200 ft. of fill dirt, and start over from scratch--well above sea level. It won't happen though, since decisions like that tend to get made at the local level, and there isn't the support for radical measures to truly fix New Orleans--actually the local politics there have been horribly corrupt for ages, and that's a big part of their problem.

And our world support has been zippo since the end of the cold war, and it's gonna stay that way long after GW is gone. It's lonely at the top. Live with it.
GW may be a loser, but that doesn't make him responsible for everything that goes wrong on the planet. Good grief!

Bury it? Your own peoples' city?
Come on?
Originally posted by mikelomNaw. It's way more complicated than that. It's a republic, at least at the federal level. A guess in that sense it's more of a confederacy or at least close to it....

Bury it? Why not? Look at most truly old cities, and you'll find they're built on top of the ruins of the previous buildings. New Orleans is (1) trashed and (2) horribly badly designed. If we're going to go to the expense of rebuilding that mess, why not do it right?
Originally posted by leisurelyslothSo actually, the united states are not united? Republics? And who would of thought? I lived there for a year. I experienced at first hand the little interactive state knowledge, or worldy knowledge for that matter. This is not aimed at you, so don't take it personally, and, I perceive you are not.

The foundry of the US is to tax and double tax (I'm talking financially now). So when Bush gets on stage and talks about, "the united states of america"..... doesn't he mean the federal states? no capitals intended! But when an area of the Unitedness has a flaw... where is the saviour and his grace of unitedness? they're all away from home fighting a battle they'll never win......... like Vietnam! And what the people of the US doing about it? Allow the propoganda of support for it's own errors to continue? Kick the ass out!
The man is clearly very stupid, and equally clearly the president the nation had to have? I'm not anti-American. I just cannot understand why this idiot was allowed to become president and destroy what international standing the US had. As somebody that is not anti-US, I feel let down. PLEASE understand any reference to GWB is enough to make any audience roll about laughing ... and this is in a nation that has long been a staunch ally of the US.

The American people can be locked away for LIFE by the Bush administration! Without any charges and no legal representation.
We have ignorant supporters like you to thank for that!
Originally posted by arrakisSorry arrakis, but yer a wacko. Two years from now G.W. is gonna ride off into the sunset--it's one of the great strengths (and occasionally great weaknesses of our system of gov't). In any case, if he is actually locking anyone away without charges or legal representation, he won't be doing it for much longer. 😴

You are right about that. When we went into Iraq, I was all for it on the basis of weapons of mass destruction. Now, the validity of the war has pretty much dissappeared although we did get rid of Hussien and that's not a bad thing.
