Yeah, Nixon was horrible. He only opened up relations with China and stop a nuclear war from being fought in the Middle East (the Russians were backing it).
Sarcasm aside, Nixon's foreign policy was statecraft as statecraft: detente with China wasn't some kind of altruistic act, it was all about setting two communist states against one another. His policy towards Israel is interesting - at least cosmetically he was one of the few US presidents to question the value of the alliance, although in the end there was no real distinction.

Republicans are sure doing poorly in this thread. Why do we keep electing them?

Who elected them? W stole at least the last two elections and to me he is like Ford the other unelected president.

History will probably regard George W. Bush the United States' worst President. Up until now that title has been held by Warren Harding - who is from your neck of the woods.

edit - Harding not Hoover - my apologies to all of Hoover's family on this site.

Ohio is not perfect - but Cleveland rocks. One of America's finest cities.

Because social programs can't sustain a Nation, no matter how good they make us feel.

That can sustain a nation financially yes. But what morals does it teach to the younger generations? That's why the youth of today don't care as much as we do. They think they can just 'take'!
