Haha, good joke lol.
I think I spotted that in the worst-song-ever thread as well.

I vote for any year that included Take That or Wet Wet Wet.

A cursory glance over the 1987 UK charts gives me the following list:

Caravan of love - Housemartins
The final countdown - Europe
Living in a box - Living In A Box
I wanna dance with somebody(Who loves me) - Whitney Houston
Star trekkin' - Firm
No sleep till Brooklyn - Beastie Boys
F.L.M. - Mel & Kim
Sweet little mystery - Wet Wet ...[text shortened]... long to any of those now.

No wonder Arles fell...

But also Strangeways Here We Come and Come on Pilgrim. And Galaxie 500 were formed. Which was a good thing.

Also, I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany.

1966.
There was nothing good before 1966.
In 1967 Zappa, Beefheart, Hendrix and Led Zep came out and saved music.
Hallelujah!

Led Zeppelin - 1968.
I agree about them saving music.

David Bowie released Never Let Me Down in 1987--a nadir of note.

There were those blues dudes, Mississppi John Hurt, BB king, Rosevelt Sykes, Tampa Red, Sippy Wallace, Big Bill Broonzy, Rev. Gary Davis, Little Brother Montgomery, Memphis Minnie, Barbaque bob,Robert Johnson, Earl Fatha Hinds, Fats Waller, Snooks Eglin, John Fahey, Backwards Sam Firk, Delta X, Louisiana Red, Archie Edwards, John Jackson, Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, Kokomo Arnold, Blind Blake, The Missisppi sheiks, Blind Boy Fuller, Josh White, Josh White Jr., Charlie Manson, Spark Plug Smith, Irene Scruggs. Those were off the top of my head, just off the top of my head but I guess those dudes and dudettes don't qualify as musicians, eh.

I disagree with your statement ... 80's get a lot of good bands : U2 , REM , INXS , Cure , Depeche Mode, The Cult, Echo & the Bunnymen, Siouxie & the Banshees, Talk Talk, Talking Heads, New Order, Clash, The Smiths, and a long etc !
Its a matter of taste I know but it was undoubdtedly a good decade for music !
