Good choice of example.
@Arkturos saidYou were obviously not here in the early days.
Sorry that I answered the way that I did up there in the second post.
Sometimes I skip a few steps and don't "show my work" (as some math teachers have scolded me in my youth).
I don't think any kind of "hazing" should be part of welcoming someone who wants to post in General, but we do have some characters here, some of them perhaps self-important because of their sit ...[text shortened]... ffense.
Executive summary: the appearance of hazing might be inadvertent, but no less deplorable.
Forum combat was a thing and it amassed casualties.

@A-Unique-Nickname saidAs a kid I read so many of his books I would often wake up shouting things like "Hobbit!", "Gandalf!", and "Mordor!"
He was a terrible writer 😉
Yep, I was Tolkien in my sleep.

@MartinS saidmy mind began to wander
Just curious; why would you want to hide the fact you are on-line and making moves by turning it off?
it does this all the time, and i am delighted
i decided to upgrade my lil green dot
it's onna ten minute (metric) timer and dims from bright to translucent over those minutes
so i shrank my avatar, and right where the "online and moving" indicator light is normally located, my shrunken avatar shows a stoned caterpillar telling alice a joke she does not get
lol
teeny tiny
