I have a five year old son that plays chess and was just wondering if I should be amazed or just very proud. He actually plays me and his uncle (my Brother) on RHP and has become very comfortable going from game to game and remembering which strategy he intends to use with which game. He is not a master but does think many steps ahead for his own pieces, (still working on predicting an opponents plays). I thought that was very good for a 5 year old. If anyone else has young ones that he could possibly play, against please let me know

Originally posted by Daemon SinHowever, I think we can safely assume that this child playing on RHP is alright with the admin because it is with the consent of a guardian, therefore, I believe, complying with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) as they have seeked a minor's parental consent.

Originally posted by Freddie2006i just skimmed through the TOS, then did a seatch for 13, thirteen and minor, and as far as i can tell it says nothing about being over 13. although you do have to tick a box saying you are when you register. although you could be registering on behalf of someone under 13 years old?

when my boy was much littler than he is now, only 2 and 3 years old ... he/we played a few games on a giant set ... i would tell him "move the horse 2 forward and 1 to the left" he would move it two to the left and 1 back, we would correct and then we continued ....
we won all the games! (only a very few, against elderly drunken russian and hungarian gentlemen, possibly hepling him out)
he was bigger than the pawns, the same size as the minor pieces, smaller than the Q and K ... and i never touched a piece.
he is now 6 and still plays chess just a little ... he does still like it but i do not want to push my "thing" onto him.
i try to play less than all of my available free time - i want to be awake at work tomorrow.
oh and yes ... you should be proud of him ... you should proud for many many reasons ... 🙂

Originally posted by Daemon Sinif you go very technically, however you can always have a parent give you permission 😀 or really, you can always lie they can't prove anything

Actually it is my wife that is signed up and I am pretty sure she is over 13. She just allows my son to use her sign on to play games with me and my brother. Let a 5 year old free on a site like this? Are you crazy? I have been here long enough ( a week) to know there are a bunch of crazies around here...but maybe a couple that are OK.
