I can think of another fear, much worse: Fear of loss of memory.

Me either, although not technically a "beer" Guiness Extra Stout was about as gross as I have ever drank, almost worthy of fear.
Bottoms Up!

Yes, that's right, it was on your list, and probably the worst of them all, don't you think?

I guess #10, pain. It can hurt so bad that we want to die. Scary thought.

Good question. Do you think maybe we fear those things we haven't experienced
yet to a greater extent than those we've tasted or almost been consumed by?

As for me, I wouldn't fear much of the things you mentioned - I've already been through some of them - but losing my memory/mind would mean the end of everything.

Yes, I've seen it up close and personal in an exceptionally well staffed critical care nursing center (during my sixteen months confinement for partial paraylsis).
More I think about it, the more I'm becoming convinced that a major/universal fear is the of loss of a romantic interest, spouse, family member or close friend.

Losing a family member would be the worst possible tragedy - but it is not one of my fears, I trust and hope it will not happen to anybody that I know.

That was a spookily accurate impression of my dear departed mum.

... bad boy and a cad. And was her name Angus, Mike or Joe?

P.S. "Spookily", what a wonderfully expressive word.

'Mary' and She could wield fear with the same dexterity that Michelangelo brought to His chisels, and for the same purpose.
