1. e4 d5 2.e x d5 Nf6 3. c4 or Nc3(the more popular one) c5 or c6(recently i like c5 better) if white takes then it is the same position and you take with Nc6. if white doesnt take, then black plays e6 to threaten the pawn, if white takes then black plays Bxe6. what do you think?

After 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.c4 c6 4.d4 Black has to defend against the Panov Botvinnik attack (usually reached via Caro Kann), which is a very powerful attack for White.

thanks that is why i have played c5 recently, and then attacked the pawn later with e6.

Not a big fan of the Center-Counter response to e4. Ever play the Alekhine Defense as Black? I have a couple pet lines in there that I use. You should try it.

As an Alekhine player myself (from time to time) it's a line to avoid against a very good player!

I feel insulted.

Game 2839370

Obviously I am a "no good" player.

This is also one of my favourite lines as white, it is just plain fun!

1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf3 3.c4 is what I would play as white, and as far as I know the main line is 3...c6 in which case white plays 4.d4 cxd5 5.Nc3 and we have completed the tranposition.

1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Nf6 3.c4 c5?
Interesting, and then if white invokes en-passant then black develops a knight. Although, if you played that against me I would let you play it and continue with Nf3.

What would you do if white played 3.d4? this may be better then 3.c4

its the strongest move to me, i would be forced to stick with the boring old c6 probably cuz i havent found anything better.
edit: im not sure about c5, but it would be fun to play.
