Well, I don´t know how funny it is. The simple explanation is that I don´t play chess here but I like this forum very much and often the discussions are very good.

Do I have to play chess here to be allowed to post discussions?
no you do not have to play to post ...

checkout "russ" - games versus posts - and he is the boss!

...but ....

the forums are great while you wait for your chess oponents to move ... and the games are great while you wait for some interesting forum issues to evolve.

why not play just a few?

You are absolutely right. 3. d5 could transpose to the Benoni but I think that if white moves 2. e4 he´s not very likely to play that as a Benoni player would rather move 2. c4 be more queen pawn minded player.

If you arer a 2000 player why would you fear 1. d4 so much that you need to search for a refutation on move 1?

Are you allright, mate? I think it´s better to know the rating of the players that write in here. That way you can estmate their knowledge of the game and therefore you can base your replies on that.

You don´t explain the game in the same way to a 1200 player as you would to a 1800 player or a 2000 player compared to a 2700 player.

I really don´t care if ...[text shortened]... a CHESS related forum so if you have nothing usful to say then don´t write at all.

Take care.
Well, the internet is full of kids who cannot be their own person at home. So they are arrogant, mean and abusive to others on "free sites". I think it makes them feel better about themselves - they envision themselves with some kind of "power".

No need to argue with the kid. Next time just tell him to, "SHUT UP! AND GO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!" 😛

Another reason why you might reply 1... e6 to 1. d4 is that it eliminates the possibility that White can play the Trompovsky opening i.e. 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 - a speciality concocted by GM Julian Hodgson.

If Black plays 1... e6 and then White replies 2. Bg5 then ... "j'adoube!"

On the contrary, while I have currently forsaken 1.e4 for 1.c4 a guy at my club used to reply

1. e4 e6
2. d4 c5

and I would play
3. d5

With a transposition to a benoni. I think white just has an easier game there than he does against a sicillian.

As an fyi I have seen 1... e6 2...c5 refered to as a franco-benoni though my copy of MCO doesn't list it at all.

1.d4 e6 2.e4 c5 3. c3 is also possible.
