I think you have Ravello supporting you and maybe even Nordlys. They are both guilty of letting their emotions interfere with their thinking.

You said that because Bigdogg cannot play tournaments here, he's not entitled to discuss tournaments.
Then I guess I'm not entitled to speak about the Olympics because I can't play hockey.......

Originally posted by arrakisMaybe you can point me to an argument he used which fails because he lacks some specific information which he can't get by playing other online tournaments or looking at RHP tournaments.

Originally posted by arrakisI can too play in tournaments here. Any chucklehead with $30 can. Subscribing is no more significant than paying an entry fee at an over-the-board tournament.
WHAT!? You have just shown us all that you don't know what you are talking about. I said you couldn't play in tournaments because you are not even a subscriber. And you said, "Every assertion wrong! Arrakis, how do you do it?"
So tell me, do you understand ANYTHING about facts?

All your claims are still wrong.

Yes, it's outrageous that non-subscribers dare to have an opinion.
Nah... it's more the fact that this non-subscribers opinion is outrageous.
For BigDoggProblem tournament play at RHP is a merely a spectator
sport, and any opinion he has can be weighed against that fact.

In fact, sometimes mere observers can have the best ideas exactly because they are not personally involved.

Subscriber or non-subscriber, he is wrong.
The concept can work and with a bit more planning next time, will work better. I know Russ asked men to withdraw from the tournament but as far as I am aware he did not do so personally. The tournament also started within days of that request.
I imagine if he had approached them directly, as owner of the site, they would have withdrawn.
We can identify the majority of men in the current tournaments. It just isn't true to say that most people conceal their gender. A tiny and deeply disturbed minority, perhaps. There's no legislating for them. The others are just jokers. The joke isn't funny.
BDP is right to say there is no way of guaranteeing an all-female entry list in a Ladies Tournament. Does that mean the concept can't work? No.

I have no reason to accept your statement that people don't conceal their gender. I have heard of and can think of several reasons for doing so. First, some value their anonymity and privacy. Second, perhaps some women don't want to be hit on, so they choose an androgynous handle. Third, I can picture a man entering a women's tournament to meet women.
I submit that the concept of a ladies' tourney has failed the minute that there is one universally acknowledged male in the players' ranks. In fact, there is still one playing in the current tourney. This wouldn't be tolerated at an over-the-board tourney, so why is it tolerated here? Hypothetically, as tournament organizer, what would you do about the fact that the website owner is taking no action against an openly male entrant?
Originally posted by BigDoggProblemI've explained one thing that would have made a huge difference - Russ personally, and on an individual basis, asking the known men to leave.

You may think one person slipping the net invalidates the whole thing; I do not. It can happen. That is, as you say, the nature of the internet.

'Nuff said... people like the above don't deserve any of your time.
